The Data Manager plugin can be used to perform transformations on events or user properties and to manage their data types.

Availability

Getting Started

Then, on the left main navigation menu, go to Utilities > Data Manager.

Transformations

When accessing Data Manager, By default the Transformations tab is shown. This tab lists all the existing transformations that are currently being applied.

What are Transformations?

Note

Transformations only affect the incoming, new data and are not retroactive.

Event and property transformations modify the target data as defined by a created rule. Two types of transformations can be applied to event segments or custom user properties: Rename and Merge.

Renaming a segment or property changes the name of the target: the property or segment is available with a new given property name and the property will no longer be accessible with the original name.

Merging properties or segments will create a new property under a new name. The merged properties will still be available on the original name.

Creating a New Transformation

A new Transformation can be created by clicking on the + New Transformation button in the upper-right corner. Next, select the target type, which can be an event segment or custom property.

In this tab you will find the following information:

Data Source, which displays:

  • Parent event for event segments.
  • Custom Property for property type fields.

Data Type in Use allows you to change the current data type by selecting a different option from the dropdown menu.

Default Data Type displays the original data type.

Editing or Deleting Data Types

Data Types can be permanently deleted or edited by clicking the 3-dot ellipsis menu at the end of each row. Multiple rows can be changed simultaneously.

Upon making any change, a dialog box will appear on the bottom of the screen containing the number of changes done. In order to confirm changes, click on Save Changes.
