Cannot add an application

Countly does not work for me. I have installed it using the "one-click script" and I have put it behind an nginx proxy.

I can create a user and login, but when I try to add an application/website/app it does exactly nothing: Image (that's what happens when I click on the "Add Application" button: nothing)

I have edited both the api/config.js and frontend/config.js to set the "path = /countly"

The nginx script is running on port 443 (SSL) and looks something like this:

location = /countly/i {
            proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3001;
            proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
            proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
    }

    location = /countly/o {
            proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3001;
    }

    location /countly/ {
            proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:6001;
            proxy_set_header Host $http_host;
    }

Any ideas? Is this a known issue?

  • We dont suggest that you use Countly on a subdir, as Countly is meant to work on a single VM with no other services. Please make sure you run Countly without a subdir.

  • Thanks for the quick reply!

    It still doesn't seem to work. I have Countly running on "countly.mydomain.com" now. Login works but creating an application still fails. The button for it gets disabled on click but no action is being taken.

    I really appreciate you helping me with this issue!
    Are there any diagnostics / log files I could provide to you?

    // Edit: Or did I misunderstand your last reply? I have Countly running on the same server as my main NGINX server, but I proxy_pass all traffic: Pastebin to NGINX configuration

    can you check for browser errors in browser console?

  • Haha this really doesn't make a lot of sense but it works now.

    I simply removed and reinstalled Countly for the fourth time using the Wiki guide to do it and now it just works.

    Although, there seems to be an issue with some fonts on 1440p resolutions. Please have a look at "Management" in the top left. Its kind of pixelated. Increasing the font size fixes this issue. Also affected are some of the text on the right.
